Legalization Of Marijuan The Hot Button Issues Of Todays...

Andrew Sheridan Legalization of marijuana is one of the hot button issues of todays political arena. For the last several decades the federal government has waged its infamous War on Drugs, a war on it’s own citizens which covers all manner of psychoactive substances that have been deemed illegal. Strikingly, thousands upon thousands of citizens have been incarcerated for crimes associated with the production, distribution, and the consumption of marijuana. Marijuana is a plant that has been cultivated for thousands of years for both its psychoactive effects and its industrial applications. The founding fathers of the United States were among those who cultivated marijuana. Grassroots efforts are defined by the text â€Å"We the People: An†¦show more content†¦As these numbers increase the question of legalization in general across the states has become an interesting and pressing issue. Multiple stances on both the pro and con side of the issue exist. Supporting arguments often use studies to back up their claims. In an October 15, 2014 article in The Washington Post, Christopher Ingraham writes of the non-negative aftereffects of the decriminalization of marijuana. In particular he reviews a report from the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice, which studied California, where full decriminalization began at the start of 2011. Of interest the report states â€Å"marijuana decriminalization in California has not resulted in harmful consequences for teenagers, such as increased crime, drug overdose, driving under the influence, or school dropout.† (Ingraham). Make no mistake, Ingraham is quick to point out that correlation is not causality. He does however note â€Å"The sky hasn t fallen.† (Ingraham). The naysayers who predicted that California s youth would fall into aimless lifestyles were incorrect. In addition to studies, other arguments cite documentaries. In his article released today, 20 April 2015, Zachary Wener-Fligner writing for Qua rtz reviews the CNN documentary â€Å"Weed 3: The Marijuana Revolution†. In it Dr. Sanjay Gupta interviews President Obama, and Gupta asks the President if he supported the

Break Free Product Life Cycle Free Essays

Most firms build their marketing strategies around the concept of the product life cycle–the idea that after introduction, products inevitably follow a course of growth, maturity, and decline. It doesn’t have to be that way, says Harvard Business School marketing professor Youngme Moon. By positioning their products in unexpected ways, companies can change how customers mentally categorize them. We will write a custom essay sample on Break Free Product Life Cycle or any similar topic only for you Order Now In doing so, they can shift products lodged in the maturity phase back–and catapult new products forward–into the growth phase. The author describes three positioning strategies that marketers use to shift consumers’ thinking. Reverse positioning strips away â€Å"sacred† product attributes while adding new ones (JetBlue, for example, withheld the expected first-class seating and in-flight meals on its planes while offering surprising perks like leather seats and extra legroom). Breakaway positioning associates the product with a radically different category (Swatch chose not to associate itself with fine jewelry and instead entered the fashion accessory category). And stealth positioning acclimates leery consumers to a new offering by cloaking the product’s true nature (Sony positioned its less-than-perfect household robot as a quirky pet). Clayton Christensen described how new, simple technologies can upend a market. In an analogous way, these positioning strategies can exploit the vulnerability of established categories to new positioning. A company can use these techniques to go on the offensive and transform a category by demolishing its traditional boundaries. Companies that disrupt a category through positioning create a lucrative place to ply their wares–and can leave category incumbents scrambling. How to cite Break Free Product Life Cycle, Essays

American Women Liberation Essay Example For Students

American Women Liberation Essay Did WW II Liberate American Women?World War II did liberate American Woman .After pearl harbor,in fact ,employers openly encouraged women to join the industrial labor pool.By 1947, 37percent of all adult in United States were inwork force.Married women represented over 70 percented of the increase in female employees,a significant shift away from traditional patterns in which the vast majority of working women had been young and single. It has also been criticized that they lost their job right after the war was ended. But not all of them lost their jobs. Lots of them who desired to continue to work held their positions safe.As they had already paved their way towards employment, it wasnt difficult for them to work in different places they havent woked before. The most significant change that WW II brought in American Women is the endof sex segregation in work force.Prior, they were allowed to do some so called female jobs and live life as housewives. But during world war II they were employed in different manufacturing jobs and the work they performed challanged prevailing definition of womanhood.Black women were able to benifit more from WW II. Before the war the majority of black women were relegated to the whte womanskitchen. In 1940, two-third of employed black women worked as domestic in LA. By 1950, this proportion dropped to 40% and was accompained by an increase ofblack women in durable maufacturing.Different criticism had been made that womenhad to quit their jobs to make space available for men who returned from the war. But the war had changed the perspective of nature of work that women were intobefore the war.The war had women more freedom than they had ever had before. Women had experienced new oppurtunities, a sense of independence, and were expereincing their own individuality The war allowed women to make decisions, and it gave them a chance to fight for their rights. And there is no doubt that the consequences of the World War II (the discrimination, job cuts, and wage inequalities) led to the development of many of the civil rights movements of the 1950s.
